When our friend and event planner Joanne Woolfe introduced us to Lielle’s family in early February 2022 we were thrilled to hear they were looking to do something a little different for her Bat Mitzvah.
We initially met at the family’s home for the briefing where it was clear from the very start that the most important element for Claudia, Lielle’s mum, was the food. The whole conversation was a meeting of minds as we spoke about middle eastern flavours, cooking styles, what Lielle also loved to eat and how the family imagined the evening to be. As the event was going to be on a Thursday, after a long day of school, we chatted through what would work best so that all the guests had time to go home and get glammed up for the party and that the flow of the evening wouldn’t feel too rushed!
Our next step was to work on the proposal and organise a tasting for the two menus, a children’s three course menu & a plated starter and sharing main course, with a selection of mini puddings for the adults. At this point, Joanne also gave us more information on the styling for the event & we used the beautiful floral inspired menu to chose crockery, linen & glassware to complement the floral and pink theme.
With the final menus chosen, the next few weeks were all about the planning. From table plans, to load in & out schedules, placing orders for the equipment & a venue site visit. Nothing would be left to chance on the night.
Finally, Spring had sprung! It was a warm May day & we were onsite for the party. The load in began in the morning with a small team working on the set up before the full team arrived on site later that day. As we worked to move tables in to position to be clothed and dressed with the amazing dramatic floral centrepieces, the production team worked tirelessly to reimagine the venue, so that when guests arrived the space would be unrecognisable and VERY PINK!
The guest’s journey began with a welcome of perfectly chilled rose, fresh and fruity cocktails, and canapes full of flavour. Whilst the adults enjoyed greeting each other and chatting, the children played in an arcade room & enjoyed their own canape & cocktail menu chosen by Lielle.
After an hour or so we invited the guests downstairs for dinner. As guests found their seats, we knew the party atmosphere was ramping up. We just knew that when Lielle made her big entrance, the whole room was about to hit that dancefloor and it did! One of our favourite parts of a Bar or Bat Mitzvah is that the dancing starts before dinner & that each course is punctuated with a wonderful speech & then MORE dancing!
For the next few hours, the team navigated the excited guests to get food and drinks to the tables, serving the adults a three course menu that was designed to be convivial & shared. From two options for the starter, a sharing feast for main course full of middle eastern influence & mini dessert pots to suit all tastes.
Lielle & her friends enjoyed a menu based on her favourite dishes! The main course of schnitzel & fries was served in pastel coloured fast food baskets with custom made greaseproof to match the invitation & the cookie was served in an individual pink cookie box with a custom made label.
Of course, after the food came more partying & for the rest of the evening, the drinks & dancing continued to flow until it was time to go home, after all it was a school night!
